Episode Description
Allison completely loses her hearing when a wealthy, young deaf girl is kidnapped, so Joe steps in to assist with her and investigator Cynthia Keener's actions on behalf of the parents.
Many thanks for letting us know about the upcoming tv espiode with deaf character or deaf storyline.
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate it very much on the behalf of the deaf American community. :)
I hardly bother to watch "Medium" tv show anyway. I consider Allison's hubby to be a good-looking which I seen him for very first time in George Romero's re-made version of the "Dawn of the Dead".
Thanks again!

Robert,
ReplyDeleteI didn't see Romero's remake of Dawn of the Dead but I am so glad that someone made a comment that includes my other big love--horror movies. I love a good book but most of my students know that when a new monster movie is out in theaters, I'm there. After seeing the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I've decided I'm a Classic Horror girl and don't see any remakes. The Classic version of Dawn of the Dead and the sequels was on a frequent play list for me growing up.
Thanks for your comment. On a serious note, it was the American Deaf Community (their acceptance and their willingness to share ASL with me) who have made me into the woman I am today. So I sincerely appreciate your comment.
Thank you for posting this. I was completely unaware of this, but I am a big fan of Medium. Now I have to make sure to catch this show! :)
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteYou sound like an expectational lady, who do embrace the logistical means of communication like ASL and successfully intergrated into the tight deaf community.
I always enjoy sci-fic and horror films and television shows, but not the latest film productions lately. I prefer those genres with intelligent and thought-provoking storylines and well-developed characters than the mind-blowing FXs. :)
Did you know that George Romero make another new zombie film like the "Diary of the ......." Jeez! Don't we have too many meaningless zombie films without social messages included?
Look forward to more of your blog postings. :)

RLM,
ReplyDeleteNo social messages in zombie movies? Come on, I remember reading an interview that Romero had to rewrite his script for the DofD movie because of 9/11. There is the fear of being attacked on our own land, the idea that water surrounding us is some kind of protection, and simply wondering why others (this case zombies) don't like Americans.
I'm more of a Vampire fan myself...and I will admit that I did go see Van Helsing which was nothing like his character in the book Dracula but I was glad that he finally received a voice (I wrote a paper in grad school about how Dracula was probably not even a blood-thirsty vampire and the book was simply about the fear of the "other", considering how only the British characters had a voice in the episolary tale. Van Helsing, Quincey Morris- the American, and Dracula are all considered foreigners and readers only learn about them through the British characters' comments). Wow, I sound like a super dork!
Did you see 30 Days of Night (based on the graphic novel)? Loved all of it except the last five minutes when I rolled my eyes.
I never had any chance of seeing "30 Days and Nights" film at the theatre. I prefer to watch any films with OC (open captions), not the RWC (Yeech!)
ReplyDeleteThere will the be incoming DVD release for "30 Days and Nights" next week, February 22nd or 29th.
I read the graphic novel few years ago with the same title of film listed above. I really don't give it much fanfare.
I will wait til next Feb 22nd to view this critically-bashing film which do not consider too scary.

I love Medium but thought tonight's episode was just lousy. My 14-month old daughter is deaf and I know more sign language than that mom.
ReplyDeleteI guess if I didn't know anything about the Deaf world it wouldn't have bothered me and I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it, but now that I do I thought it was just crappy writing and even worse casting.
I've only seen Medium a few times but wasn't impressed with last night's episode. It came on at 10pm and I'm usually in bed by 9 so I wasn't happy anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked:
The episode didn't revolve around deafness as a theme. The young girl was kidnapped and she happened to be deaf... so there was no preaching about how to raise a deaf kid.
And I liked that the sound was cut for Allison. Viewers got to experience what it was like to struggle with lipreading television characters without the attitude of lipreading is easy.
